What is Quora?

Quora is an online portal where you can get questions and answers to almost anything. Here the questions are created while people throw in their answers. This website is edited and organized by a community of users. It was founded in 2009 and went public just a year later. It was founded by former Facebook employees, Adam D’Angelo and Charlie Cheever.

In the early 2011, Quora has 500,000 registered users. To make navigation easier for its user and to give more information in just one click, the site was soon redesigned. But once that was done, some people started accusing that Quora was almost similar to Wikipidea. But that did not stop them. They further launched the I Phone app in 2011 and an Android app in 2012.

Just last year, Quora introduced a feature called the Stats. This feature lead the users to see the summary or any detailed statistics as to how many people have viewed or followed or voted ot shared and questions or answers.

So if you want to sign in on Quora, you need to login in with your real names and not screen names. You can also log in through your Google, Twitter or Facebook account. This can be done through an OpenId technology. You can also upvote or downvote any answer. You are also given the option of editing the existing answers. It was noted that majority of the Quora users were loacted in Silicon Valley and then The New York City and nearly 40% of its users are from India.

Quora has been attributing Twitter, Facebook and Google Wave which are based on a system of users voting up content. Quora has been also getting mixed reviews. Some even said that it is a horrid service for blogging but yet again, a decent way of questions and answers but most certainly not better than its competitor. While some ended up predicting that Quora would become larger than Twitter.
